2009 started with good news, one of our girls qualified to secondary school in grade eight.

Priscilla went to Zambia in December. She was present at Ministry of Social and Child Development offices during admission of six children to PSHAF home. She had christmas with the children and stayed with them for three weeks.

During this time she made arrangements with Cheshire Homes for our disadvantaged boy for physiotherapy. She also made arrangement for our HIV positive child, so that the child can receive medical care.

Christmas 2008

September to December 2007

In November Pshaf has moved from Libala to Woodlands in a more specious house. The home can cater for twenty children. We don't have a manager anymore, his work is now done by volunteers. The old house was mismanaged and we lost most of our goods like beds, beddings and other household goods. This happened when the founder was in hospital during her visit in Zambia in September.
Now we are restarting and are buying everything again. We hope the home will be
fully operational by January 2008.

Our house from december 2008 until august
2009. It was sold, so we had to move.

May 13th 2007 Mothersday 2 abused girls arrived at the PSHAF Home !

Cases in April 2007 ( few of them):

1. A 23 year old boy was arrested in Chipata for defiling a 3 year old girl.
The matter was reported to the Police.

2. A mother of a defiled girl in Siavonga demanded release of the defiler. The 33 year
old man allegedely defiled and impregnated a 15 year old girl. The mother of the
victim demanded for the release on grounds that she made a mistake when repor-
ting that the girl was 15 instead of 17. The police released the suspect.

3. Supreme court upheld a 20 year sentence of a 54 year old man convicted of de-
filing a 12 year old girl. The medical report proved that the victim was infected
   with a sexually transmitted disease.

4. A 6 year old girl was defiled by an 18 year old boy. The case was reported to the
Police but later withdrawn because the mother of the victim demanded to be given
compensation of K6,000,000 (2000 sfr./1600 US$) which the boys family
   accepted to pay!

The Police Victim Support Unit has complained of many cases being withdrawn, after reported to the Police because of  reconciliation between the affected parties!

YWCA confirmed that more than 70% of sexual abuse cases go unreported and 80% of such cases are infected with HIV.
